Product Overview
This test jig is designed and manufactured in accordance with UL588 Clause 80 Figure 80.1 It is specially used for the secureness test of lampholder wiring contact terminals. It applies specified tension to lampholder leads to simulate practical service conditions, so as to verify the clamping reliability of internal lampholder wiring terminals. It checks whether wires become loose, displaced or pulled‑out, and meets UL safety certification test requirements. Manufactured by Guangzhou Shice Equipment Co., Ltd.

Standard
UL588 Figure 80.1 — Secureness of lampholder contacts
Technical Parameters
Test Applied Force: 8.9 N (2 lbf)
Lever Arm Length: 305 mm (12 inch)
Wire‑clamping Hole Diameter: 1.6 mm (1/16 inch)
Vertical Mounting Height of Lead: 3.2±0.8 mm (1/8 ±1/32 inch)
Hinge Pivot Base Height: 38.1 mm (1‑1/2 inch)

Equipment Structure
- Hinged Lever Arm Assembly: Equipped with hinge pin. Slots are machined on the arm for convenient clamping of lampholder leads. Counterweight is fitted on the arm to deliver standard 8.9 N test force.
- Lead Clamping End: A φ1.6 mm clamping hole is provided at the arm end, fitted with hand‑tightening knob for fast clamping of test lead.
- Raising Shim / Block: Used to elevate lampholder sample to ensure the lever arm is kept horizontal at the moment force is initially applied, complying with standard force‑loading condition.
- Base Frame: Rigid integrated base ensures stable operation without shaking during test.
Test Principle
Based on counterweight lever principle, the lever arm rotates around the hinge pin and exerts constant downward tension of 8.9 N on lampholder lead, to evaluate the clamping secureness of internal lampholder contact terminals.
Operating Procedure
- Place the lampholder on the shim or block, adjust shim thickness to make sure the lever arm is in horizontal position when force is first applied.
- Thread the lampholder lead through the clamping hole at lever‑arm end, tighten the knob to secure the lead firmly.
- Release the weighted lever arm gently to apply specified 8.9 N tension to the lead.
- Maintain for required test duration, inspect lampholder wiring section for failures such as wire displacement, loosening or pull‑out.
