BS1363-1 / BS1363-3 Figure 10 High Temperature Pressure Test Apparatus
SC-BS1363-F10
Product Overview
This apparatus is manufactured in accordance with BS 1363-1:1995 + Amd 1, 2, 3 — “13 A plugs, socket-outlets, adaptors and connection units — Part 1: General requirements” — and BS 1363-3, Figure 10. It is used for the high-temperature pressure test of the insulating sleeves of BS-standard plug pins: to verify the ability of the insulating-sleeve material of plug pins to resist blade-pressure deformation under simulated overheat conditions. It is a dedicated apparatus for type tests, outgoing inspections and third-party certification testing of BS 1363 plug products.
Construction and Key Parameters
- Blade: width 0.70+0.050 mm, front-end radius R 3 mm ± 0.1 mm
- Load: combined weights exert a pressure of 2.5 N0-0.1 on the specimen via the blade
- Number of specimens: three pin specimens each time; one of them shall not have been used for the wear test of Clause 12.17.3
- Support & positioning: the pin specimen is fixed horizontally on the support as shown in Figure 10, with the blade indentation located at the middle of the insulating sleeve
- Material: main body made of stainless steel — heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant; weights and blade are heat-treated for dimensional stability
Test Method (per BS 1363-1 Clause 12.17.4)
Mount the insulating-sleeve specimen of the pin under test on this apparatus as required by Figure 10 so that the blade applies a constant pressure of about 2.5 N to the specimen. Then place the whole apparatus (with specimen) into a heating chamber and keep it at 200 °C for 120 min. After the specified time, remove the specimen immediately and immerse it in room-temperature water to cool. After cooling, measure the remaining thickness of the insulating sleeve at the indentation; the thickness reduction shall not exceed 50 %.
