IS 1293 Figure 10 Gauge for Checking Non-Accessibility of Live Parts Through Shutters SC-TT03

Standard requirement: IS 1293:2019 Plugs and Socket-Outlets of 2.5 A, 6 A and 16 A, 250 V (Indian Standard, harmonized with IEC 60884-1). Figures 9 and 10 of IS 1293 define spring-loaded gauges for checking the non-accessibility of live parts through shutters, and of live parts of socket-outlets with increased protection.
Application
The Figure 10 gauge is used both for checking the non-accessibility of live parts through shutters and for socket-outlets declared to provide increased protection. The gauge is applied with its face in full contact with the socket-outlet face and the rigid steel wire is pushed with a thrust of 1 N; the Ø1 mm wire shall not touch live parts. A flexible test lead allows contact with live parts to be indicated electrically.
Construction
- Stainless steel gauge body, Ø50 mm outside diameter with Ø30 mm guide opening, body length 60 mm minimum
- Rigid steel probe wire Ø1 mm (+0.015/0) × 80 ± 0.5 mm, tip rounded R0.05 mm
- Internal calibration spring: with a thrust of 1 N applied on the wire, surface A–A′ is brought practically to the same level as surface B–B′
- Flexible test lead for electrical indication of contact
