SANS 164-1:2019 Annex B (normative) no-contact gauge, model SC-S164B-15A. It checks the distance from the engagement face to the point where a plug pin would first touch the current-carrying contact: if the socket makes contact at this depth, protection against electric shock is not adequate.
Construction: same form as Annex A (Ø12.0 ± 0.5 mm head, Ø7.09 mm pin) but with a 13.2 mm (+0.05 / 0) metal length and a solid insulating tip of radius 3.5 mm. The insulated tip guides the gauge and prevents any conductive path before the first-contact position is reached.
Test procedure: insert the gauge as far as it will go into the guidance hole, shutters in place. The indicator lamp described in Annex A (12 V to 24 V) shall not light. Together with the Annex C contact gauge it brackets the first-contact position of the socket-outlet.

- Rear terminal for the 12 V to 24 V indicator lamp circuit
