Standard: TIS 166-2549 – Thai Industrial Standard for Plugs and Socket-Outlets for Household and Similar Purposes: Plugs and Socket-Outlets with Rated Voltage not Exceeding 250 V. Appendix A of the standard defines the gauges: Figures A.1 to A.5 check the dimensions of the socket-outlet, Figures A.6 and A.7 check the withdrawal force, and Figures A.8 to A.10 are the additional gauges for socket-outlets.

Application

Three gauges A, B and C check whether the live contact tube of a socket-outlet is reached at the correct depth. The shutters are kept open during the whole test and the contact condition is shown by an electronic indicator supplied at 40–50 V.

Gauge A fully inserted in any possible position of the socket opening, until plane X-X touches the engagement face of the socket-outlet: the indicator lamp shall not light.

Gauge B inserted in the socket-outlet: the indicator lamp shall light (the contact tube is reached).

Gauge C inserted in the socket-outlet: the indicator lamp shall not light (the contact tube is not reached too deep).

Construction

• Three gauges A, B and C in corrosion-resistant stainless steel
• Insulated sections on the body so that only the pin tip can signal a contact
• Metal parts made of corrosion-resistant metal (stainless steel), as required by Figure A.2
• Test leads for a 40–50 V electronic indicator
• Engraved with the figure number and the gauge letter (A / B / C)
