Standard: TIS 166-2549 – Thai Industrial Standard for Plugs and Socket-Outlets for Household and Similar Purposes: Plugs and Socket-Outlets with Rated Voltage not Exceeding 250 V. Appendix A of the standard defines the gauges: Figures A.1 to A.5 check the dimensions of the socket-outlet, Figures A.6 and A.7 check the withdrawal force, and Figures A.8 to A.10 are the additional gauges for socket-outlets.
Application
The three gauges C1, C2 and C3 check the resilience of the contact tubes and the contact pressure of a socket-outlet. The shutters are kept open during the whole test and any grease is removed from the pins before the test.
Gauge C1 is inserted perpendicular to the engagement face with a force not exceeding 50 N and shall not come out of the socket-outlet under its own weight.
Gauges C2 and C3 are then inserted one after the other in the same way. Each of them shall not come out of the socket-outlet under its own weight. The socket-outlet may be placed in the most unfavourable position for each step.
Construction
- Three gauges C1, C2 and C3 in corrosion-resistant stainless steel
- Pin diameter and mass matched to the table of Figure A.4 (see specification below)
- Flat contact face so that the 50 N insertion force can be applied perpendicular to the engagement face
- Engraved with the gauge designation C1 / C2 / C3
