BS 546:2025 Table 20 and Figure 18 maximum GO gauge for socket-outlet, 15 A three-pin version, model SC-B5F18-15A. It verifies that a South African (BS 546) 15 A socket-outlet accepts a plug made to the maximum permitted dimensions – that the contact tubes, the guidance holes and the insertion space are large enough and correctly positioned for full insertion without undue force.

Standard: BS 546:2025 Plugs and socket-outlets for domestic and similar general use. Table 20 tabulates dimensions V, Y, C, D, E, F, P, S and T for the 2 A, 5 A, 15 A and 30 A ratings, and Figure 18 gives the form of the gauge, requiring the radiated ends of the pin portions to be part of a sphere. This item is the 15 A row.

Test procedure: insert the three pins of the gauge simultaneously into the three contact tubes. The gauge shall go fully home without jamming and without being stopped by projections on the engagement face, by the switch actuator or by misaligned contact tubes. The body dimensions V / Y and P also check the hole pattern and the insertion space.

Construction

  • Stainless steel body, hardened and ground, HRC 58 min., measuring faces Ra 0.4 um max.
  • Pins to the 15 A row of Table 20: earth ØC 8.74 mm, current-carrying ØD 7.09 mm, rounded pin ends being part of a sphere
  • Pin positions set by P = (Y + C)/2 together with Y and V, verified on a CMM piece by piece
  • Body stamp: BS 546:2025 表20和图18 plus serial number
  • Measured dimension data and calibration certificate supplied with the goods
