Product overview
SANS 164-1:2019 Annex C (normative) contact gauge, model SC-S164C-15A. It is used as a pair with the Annex B no-contact gauge: the no-contact gauge proves that contact has not yet been made at a given depth, the contact gauge proves that contact must already have been made. Together they limit the first-contact position, so that contact tubes cannot be so deep that a plug pin makes poor contact.
Construction: Ø12.0 ± 0.5 mm stop head, Ø7.09 mm (+0.05 / 0) measuring pin with a 15.8 mm (+0 / -0.05) metal length, 2.6 mm longer than Annex B, and a solid insulating tip of radius 3.5 mm with a Ø7.0 mm (+0.05 / 0) end.
Test procedure: insert the gauge as far as it will go into the guidance hole. The indicator lamp described in Annex A (12 V to 24 V) shall light, i.e. the pin has already reached the current-carrying contact tube at this depth and the minimum contact depth is satisfied.
